Play it by Ear welcomes new students at any time and is open year round. All students will be notified of any changes to scheduled lessons or "vacation time" at least one week in advance. 

Payment is accepted via PayPal, Venmo, or cash. Payment is due immediately following each lesson. 

48 hour notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation. In the event of a missed lesson, a $5 fee will be added to the next week's lesson. Please speak to Ms. Susie directly if there are extenuating circumstances. 

Play it by Ear offers a virtual option. This will remain available indefinitely. This is the perfect option for long distance students as well as for those with busy schedules!

Students with special needs are welcome at Play it by Ear. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to us directly. 

Dance attire should allow for visibility of the student's alignment and joints. No particular color or brand is necessary, but clothing should be appropriate, comfortable allowing freedom of movement, and safe to dance in (watch out for long pants!). Appropriate shoes should be worn for the particular genre being studied.

Music students are required to provide their own instrument to learn and practice with. In addition, Ms. Susie will guide you through purchasing a leveled book and music that is right for the student and that we will work out of each week. Additional services such as tuning, repairing and additional materials may be available upon request, just ask! If Ms. Susie can't help, she will direct you to someone who can!

Academic tutoring students must brief Ms. Susie prior to your lesson on the work that we will be focusing on. It is very helpful to bring examples of work to your lesson in addition to any school books/textbooks and supplies that are used for that subject. 

Ms. Susie holds a Masters of Education as well as B.A.'s in multiple subject areas. I am happy to provide you with references upon request.

Play it by Ear looks forward to scheduling an open mic or performance opportunity for students when it is safe to do. Please check back soon! Ms. Susie also looks forward to scheduling a future "Recording Session" for her music students.

Music lessons can be started at any age, but it is my general recommendation that children do not start music lessons before they can read, approximately first grade. Dance lessons may be started as soon as the student shows an interest and has an attention span.

Ms. Susie is comfortable tutoring in the main subject areas (ELA, reading, writing, math, science and Spanish) for students in elementary and middle school. For high school subjects please speak directly to Ms. Susie.

Students and parents understand that recording or use of lessons in any way is not permitted unless  explicitly granted by Ms. Susie. Parents or guardians are always welcome to view lessons live. Play it by Ear will never post or use your likeness without your explicit permission.
